Enter Stage Right continues training its Intimacy Choreographers through TIE (Theatrical Intimacy Education). Our goal, like TIE, is to give our artists the tools, training, and support to amplify our consent-based, trauma-informed policies within our community and wherever they go.
From TIE’s website: Founded in 2017, Theatrical Intimacy Education is a consulting group specializing in researching, developing, and teaching best practices for staging theatrical intimacy.
Theatrical Intimacy Education empowers artists with the tools to ethically, efficiently, and effectively stage intimacy, nudity, and sexual violence.
We train the whole company, department, or ensemble in TIE Best Practices so that you aren’t on your own when the choreographer goes home. This is about culture change, not just choreography.
We believe that staging theatrical intimacy should be Ethical, Efficient, and Effective and we want to train you to do it.

ESR Consent & Intimacy Policy
ALL artists at Enter Stage Right go through a one hour ESR Consent Policy and a 30 minute Introduction to Intimacy session.
The Consent Policy session defines our overall policy regarding consent of touch and language used in our space. The Introduction to Intimacy session covers a look into the very basics of how Intimacy Choreography is treated at our theatre.
CONSENT POLICY BASICS:
-Applies anytime you are in a space on behalf of Enter Stage Right, not just on stage
-Consent to touch or use rude language
-Every person has a right to their own boundaries
-Every person is expected to respect the boundaries of others
-It's none of our business why you have a specific boundary, you never have to explain
-Speak up if you feel consent is being violated
-Go to who you're comfortable going to in your situation: Intimacy Choreographer, Director, Executive Director, or a Board Member
INTRODUCTION TO INTIMACY BASICS:
-This is a very basic overview of how Intimacy Choreography works
-Using "button"
-Intro to Boundary Work
-Intro to Closing & Opening Distance
-Intro to Levels of Touch
-Leaving it on the stage
ADDITIONAL WORK IS DONE WITHIN SCENE WORK FOR PRODUCTIONS
CURRENT ESR INTIMACY CHOREOGRAPHERS include REGINA SPAIN & STEWART REED
Both Regina & Stewart have extensive training with TIE and other Intimacy Choreographers. Many others in the company have begun the journey with the 6-hour TIE Basics course and are looking forward to improving their knowledge to assist ESR in this important mission.
