Antigone
Adapted by Dudleyy Fitts and Robert Fitzgerald from Sophocles
Director: Kaylee Loxton

May 8-24
Greek Tragedy

Description: The Fitts and Fitzgerald translation of Sophocles’ Antigone portrays a intense conflict between divine law and state authority. Antigone defies King Creon’s edict to leave her brother Polyneices unburied, choosing moral duty over death. Her defiance leads to her suicide, sparking a chain reaction of tragedy, including the deaths of Creon's son, Haimon, and wife, Eurydice.
