In this classic Tolkien "ring" story, Bilbo, a conservative Hobbit, is asked to leave his home in the ground in order to set off as chief robber in an attempt to recover treasure from the fierce dragon, Smaug. It's the last thing any sensitive Hobbit would want to do, but along with trusty dwarfs, steady elves, and the great Gandalf, this Hobbit may conquer enemies along the way and the hearts of those children and adults who continue to enjoy such magic.
